Teen Mental Health First Aid @ Main Library In-Person
Teen Mental Health First Aid teaches teens in grades 9-12, or ages 14-18, how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges in their friends and peers. The course will cover common signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges, common signs and symptoms of a mental health crisis, particularly suicide, the impact of school violence and bullying on mental health, how to open the conversation about mental illnesses and substance use with friends, and how to seek the help of a responsible and trusted adult.
At the conclusion of this workshop, teens will get a certification from Mental Health First Aid. This is a great achievement to add to resume, and/or college applications. For more information contact Ms. Kim at kjerger@sussexcountylibrary.org or visit the Mental Health First Aid website at https://www.mentalhealthfirstaid.org/population-focused-modules/teens/ .
Please note, teens must complete all three days (8/11, 8/13 and 8/15) in order to become certified as a Mental Health First Aid Teen.
