Italians of Newark: A History @ Main Library In-Person
Join us for a visit from the author of Italians of Newark: A History, Andrea Lyn Cammarato-Van Benschoten.
Andrea will share stories of Italian immigration to Newark and the accompanying social, religious, political, and other related aspects of the experience; and where the Italians of Newark can be found today. She will also discuss her extensive research and happily answer questions. Recipes included!
Between 1880-1924 more than four million Italians immigrated to the U.S., with tens of thousands settling in Newark. They reshaped the city, spreading their culture (and their cooking!) in ways that still influence us today. Don't miss this opportunity to learn more about it.
